WORSHIP
“We reach up to God in prayer and praise.”  Our worship draws upon the Biblical tradition of
God’s people assembling for praise, prayer, and instruction—then going out to share the joys and
responsibilities of an informed discipleship. There is a rhythm here of gathering and dispersing. As
the body of Christ, we inhale his love in worship and exhale his love in service. We use a variety of
forms and styles of worship. But the goal remains the same: to proclaim the good news of salvation
and to invite all who hear to follow and serve Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. In our tradition we have
never been able to exalt God without being made conscious of—not in a condemning, but in a
cleansing way—our own sin. A prayer confessing our sins and asking forgiveness follows our opening
praise of God’s holiness. We observe two sacraments: Baptism, which celebrates God’s grace in
washing away our sins and welcoming us into his family, and the Lord’s Supper, which celebrates
Christ’s sacrificial death and resurrection and renews our place within his family.
Entering Sanctuary–
As you arrive please greet and visit with others.
While the pastor is welcoming you, extend that welcome to others by signing and
passing the Welcome Pad and then pray for one another in your pew.
When prelude instrumental music is played following the welcome, we ask late
comers to remain outside the sanctuary as others are praying to prepare for their
worship of God.  Please enter during the first congregational song.

Hearing aids and large print bulletins are available.  Request them from an usher.

Communion is open to all who put their trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Resources in Pew Racks
Hymnals – Most of our singing will come from these books.  As you prepare for
worship, you can preview the bulletin and mark the pages in the hymnal that will be
     used.
Bibles – You are encouraged to follow along in the pew Bibles as the scripture lesson
is read.  The page number is noted in the bulletin.
Yellow Prayer Request Cards – If you do not wish to express your joy or concern
orally, you can write it on this card.  An usher will pick it up and give it to the
     pastor.
Offering Envelope – You may place your offering in this envelope, if you do not have
a regular issued envelope.  If you place your name on the envelope, the office will
record your offering and you will receive credit (for tax purposes)
Blue Participation Pamphlets – You are encouraged to give the church feedback
or suggestions on what you are experiencing here at Westminster.

Fellowship Following Worship
You are welcome to come through the front doors of the sanctuary and then to the

opportunity to get acquainted with you.

Television Broadcast
Our worship service is broadcast Sunday afternoons at 3:00 on Channel 3.  We
are glad that we can offer this way of connecting with new residents to the community,
and with our homebound and absent members.
