PRAYERS

By your will, O God, I go out into this community with the good news of your undying love. I
ask for your blessings upon me as I visit _____. May they be strengthened by my care and
concern. Do not let me become over-anxious or discouraged, but make me brave and
sensitive and hopeful knowing your presence with us. Amen

As You have given Yourself to me, O God, help me to give of myself to others in need.
Thank you for the opportunities I have to be doing this ministry. Fill me with energetic love
to show compassion, so that those I visit may believe that You care. Amen.

Almighty God: You poured out the Holy Spirit on believers at Pentecost, drawing them
together in the mission of the church. Give me, my fellow Deacons, and our pastor a great
enthusiasm for the work to which you have called us. Keep your Spirit with us, so that, as
individuals and as a team, we may be ambassadors of Christ, who is the head of the
church. Amen.

Eternal God: In some of my visits I become so aware of my own needs and hurts. Fill my
emptiness, heal my wounds, help me find purpose in my losses. May the experiences of my
past prepare me for my present ministry of visiting, making me sensitive to the needs of
others and making me stronger in my faith. Deepen my trust in your everlasting love; in the
name of Jesus Christ who has died and risen again. Amen.

God of prophets and apostles: You have called me to this ministry. May I value what I have
to offer, but never become so self-centered that You cannot work through me. As I visit
may I continually be growing, learning from the people I visit, developing my skills, maturing
in love, deepening my faith in You. Thank You for what I am experiencing; for the sake of
Jesus Christ. Amen.
