DEACONS
Description of Ministry
The office of Deacon as set forth in scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and
service after the example of Jesus Christ.  Persons of spiritual character, honest
repute, exemplary lives, brotherly and sisterly love, warm sympathies, and sound
judgment should be chosen for this office.

It is the duty of Deacons, first of all, to minister to those who are in need, to the sick,
to the friendless, and any who may be in distress.  They will give special attention to
those who have not been worshiping with the congregation.  The Deacons are a
part of a whole team of caring.  They are supported by each other and the pastor.

At Westminster, each Deacon shepherds a flock of twenty some families.  Each
has their own unique way of demonstrating care.  They are Christian friends who
listen to concerns and celebrate joys.  They offer not only caring for burdens, but
also encouragement for the caring done by others.

The Care Ministry Team is an auxiliary of the board of deacons.  The team is
composed of volunteers who regularly visit our homebound members.
